The Department of Finance has published a report on responses to the consultation on removing rates support measures.
The consultation on the revenue-raising potential associated with the removal of rating support measures ran for 14 weeks from November 2023 to February 2024.
Non-domestic rating support
The consultation sought views on four non-domestic rating support schemes including:
- non-domestic vacant property relief
- industrial derating
- freight transport relief
- exemption from rates for student hall of residence
Domestic allowances
Views were also sought on the removal of three domestic allowances including:
- the landlords’ allowance
- early payment discount
- maximum capital value cap
