Describe your business?
I work as a Psychotherapist. My work is with people who are dealing with life’s difficulties and need to seek professional intervention.
Why did you choose to start your own business?
I was at a point in my career that I wanted to be in charge of how my work would develop and grow.
What is the best thing about running your own business?
I like the flexibility it gives me.
What advice would you give to anyone starting a business?
If you believe you are good at what you do, are a self-starter and there is a market for your service or product, then give it a go!
What do you think are the main challenges facing new business starts?
I suppose there’s never a good time to start a new business but there could be better times. Our current economic climate coupled with Brexit leaves small business start-ups ‘between two stools’.
Describe your experience in running a business?
Running my own business gives me personal satisfaction and a great sense of achievement. It allows me to organise and implement changes and work at my own pace, given the nature of my business, that is very important.
ABOUT ME
I began my therapeutic working life in September 1993, as a Systemic Family Therapist. Over these 21 years, I have seen a wide range of people; individuals, couples and various family groupings with many and varied issues, all with the central desire to be free from their worries and struggles and to live a more contented and happy life.
I currently work in a Private Psychotherapy Practice in the Enniskillen Business Centre.
I am an accredited member of the Family Therapy Association of Ireland, an Accredited Practitioner with EMDR Europe, Membership with BACP and ICP. These professional Bodies have a framework for good practice in therapy and a Code of Ethics that therapists’ are asked to abide by.
