What is GDPR
The Data Protections Regulations, General Data Protection Regulations, in the European Union are about to undergo significant changes, this is mainly due to the way businesses and organisations store and handle customer information. With most information now stored digitally, the old regulations no longer meet the current requirements. These new regulations will be much clearer so that any business trading within the European Union being required to meet these regulations. These changes will come into place on 25th May 2018 and it is important that all businesses are aware of their obligations under these new regulations.
These new regulations put the customer back in control of the information businesses and organisations hold about them and makes it easier for them to access. Businesses are obliged to provide the information free of charge and in a readable form within one month of the request being made. The new regulations also set out fines for businesses who don’t comply with the regulations and these will have a significant impact on those businesses.
