Making Music is inviting emerging composers to take part in its Adopt a Music Creator 2026 scheme
The scheme pairs leisure‑time music groups with composers in the first seven years of their professional career to create new music together.
Up to 15 groups will receive £1,000 to help with commissioning costs and will get support from Making Music and professional mentors during the project.
Groups selected for the subsidy choose the composer they want to work with. Some may already have a composer in mind, while others will select from a pool of composers who submit an expression of interest.
Composers can apply by completing a short form with a short pitch about their work and links to examples. You can apply if you are:
- in the first seven (non‑continuous) years of your professional composing career
- interested in working collaboratively with a community or leisure‑time music group
- able to develop a new piece of music during 2026
The deadline for expressions of interest is Friday 13 March 2026.
Register your interest on the Making Music website.
